The original Night Timber X 1.2m combined the STOL capabilities of the Timber 1.5m models with unique features to deliver 3D aerobatic capabilities – along with high-visibility LED lights throughout the airframe for flying all day AND all night! Now the updated and upgraded E-flite Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m adds the most requested features including a top-mounted hatch for easier and faster battery changes, stronger main landing gear mounts and heavy-duty springs, combined connectors for simpler wing installation and removal, plus many more to make it more durable, convenient, and capable than ever. That makes it a perfect choice for intermediate to experienced pilots looking for a unique blend of STOL, aerobatic, and night flying capabilities you can’t get with any other model!
E-flite Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m Overview
The E-flite Timber X 1.2m unleashed a new era of STOL plus 3D and aerobatic capability. Based on the extremely popular Timber 1.5m models but featuring a different wing design and oversized control surfaces, it offered an even wider flight envelope to deliver a truly “mild to wild” flying experience. In addition to the standard LED landing, navigation, and strobe lights, the Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m adds integrated high-visibility LED lights throughout the airframe that make it possible to fly pretty much any time – day OR night! It also features many updates and upgrades compared to the original Night Timber X including a top hatch for faster, easier battery changes, plus combined connectors for simpler wing installation and removal. Strengthened landing gear mounts, along with heavier-duty springs similar to the Twin Timber 1.6m, improve the durability and STOL capability when flying from rough terrain.
Both versions are equipped with updated and more reliable metal-geared servos, a 3S and 4S 2200–3200mAh compatible motor with a new and stronger mounting design, and a higher-capacity 70-amp Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC. The BNF Basic version is equipped with a factory-installed AR631+ receiver featuring exclusive and enhanced AS3X+ along with optional-use SAFE Select technologies. The receiver also delivers real-time telemetry including overall battery voltage, current, and more to compatible transmitters – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – plus motor/thrust reversing for special ground handling and other capabilities. Hollow-core EPO construction with composite reinforcement results in a lightweight yet strong airframe that makes it capable of handling extreme aerobatic maneuvers while keeping the wing loading low for impressive Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL) and slow flight performance. You can even install the included leading edge slats for improved slow flight performance, or the optional floats (sold separately) so you can fly from water all day AND all night too!

Skill Level 2 – Some Experience Required
Skill Level 2 aircraft, like this one, are suitable for RC pilots who already have some experience and the skills to assemble, set up, and fly similar class models. You should have the experience and skills necessary to successfully fly models like the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, Valiant 1.2m, Commander mPd 1.4m, Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5m, or other similar class models before attempting to fly the Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m BNF Basic version.

The Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m is equipped with an exclusive Spektrum Avian Smart Lite ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more – with Smart and non-Smart batteries – via compatible receivers (including the AR631+) and Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/3 and 8 G2, the DX9, NX6 to 20, iX12 to 20 and others) while you fly. Plus, the receiver is loaded with a Smart Transmitter File that allows you to import all settings for NX and iX series transmitters during the binding process.
eXtra Exclusive Technologies
This BNF Basic version is equipped with exclusive Spektrum AS3X+ and SAFE Select technologies. Enhanced AS3X+ technology works behind the scenes to smooth out the effects of wind and turbulence to deliver an even more locked-in feel than standard AS3X which makes it seem like you’re flying a much larger airplane. Optional-use SAFE Select offers pitch and bank angle limits along with automatic self-leveling that can be turned on and off at the flip of a switch! And if you don’t want to enable the SAFE Select features, simply bind the receiver normally and only AS3X+ will be active.
Smart Transmitter File
This BNF aircraft is equipped with a receiver that is loaded with a Smart Transmitter File (STF) that makes programming your transmitter as easy as a few clicks of a button. When you bind your transmitter to an STF-equipped aircraft, all programming parameters download automatically from the receiver. Switch assignments, rates, expo, telemetry, and voice callouts configure themselves. No lengthy step-by-step instructions. No continual adjustments. Just push-button convenience that gets you flying faster.
eXtra LED Lights
Embedded throughout the airframe are factory-installed LED lights that make it possible to fly all day AND all night, too! They’re conveniently powered by the 3S or 4S 2200–3200mAh flight battery and can easily be disconnected when flying in daylight conditions. Plus, just like other Timbers, the Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m is also equipped with realistic-looking LED landing, navigation and strobe lights.
eXtreme Maneuverability
The Night Timber X Evolution 1.2m features a wing design with a shortened span plus much larger ailerons and flaps, along with an enlarged elevator and rudder, compared to the Timber 1.5m models. Double-beveled hinge lines make it possible to deflect every control surface, including the flaps that can travel in both directions, to high angles for outstanding control and eXtreme 3D aerobatic capability. Or on low rates the controls can be smooth and docile so you can fly as mild or as wild as you’d like!

The factory-installed brushless power system features a Spektrum Avian 70-amp Smart Lite ESC along with a specially-tuned motor and prop that deliver an abundance of thrust with a 3S LiPo battery, or eXtra power and unlimited vertical performance with a 4S battery without the need for any modifications or upgrades. Plus, the more convenient top hatch and larger battery compartment makes it easier to fit batteries from 3S 2200mAh to 4S 3200mAh to achieve a wide variety of performance and flight times.

STOL (Short Takeoff and Landing) Capable
The wing design has a shorter span yet almost as much wing area as the Timber 1.5m models, plus it features drooped wingtips and can be equipped with the included optional-use leading edge slats for improved slow flight and STOL performance. These features, along with the lightweight design, oversized flaps and high-power brushless power system, make it possible to spring into the air or float down to land in as little as two feet or less.
Easy Assembly
No glue is required for assembly, and because the few parts that need to be assembled easily bolt into place, the Night Timber X Evolution can be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge the flight battery. The two-piece wing, now featuring combined servo and LED connectors, also makes transport and storage more convenient than before.
Versatile Gear Options
Thick grass, gravel paths, dirt trails – even local lakes and ponds – you can fly off of these and many other surfaces that are impossible for most models of this size to handle. The stronger, reinforced mounts in the fuselage, plus shock-absorbing landing gear equipped with heavier-duty springs similar to the Twin Timber 1.6m, soak up the bumps of rough surfaces and not-so-great landings. And the oversized, tundra-style wheels and tires provide excellent prop clearance. The optional float set (sold separately) features dual water rudders for superb steering control. Whichever gear option you choose to fly with, both are easy to install and can be swapped out in minutes.
